Biografia

Fábio Leandro is a pianist, composer, producer, and arranger. In 1997, he began his studies at the Universidade Livre de Música Tom Jobim(now EMESP), where he studied piano, harmony, arranging, and orchestration. From 2004 to 2006, he was a member of the Tom Jobim Youth Orchestra. In 2008, he was invited by the São Paulo City Department of Culture to participate in the *Piano na Praça* (Piano in the Square) project. For over a decade, he has collaborated with artists and groups from São Paulo's instrumental music scene—such as Projeto Coisa Fina, Filó Machado, Rogério Botter Maio, Kinteto do Nenê, Airto Moreira, and Flora Purim—and later with artists from the city's independent scene, including Aláfia, Xênia França, and Liniker. In 2016, he was invited by percussionist, music producer, and choreographer Alysson Bruno to compose pieces for the show *Gaia*, produced by the Canadian dance company Dance Migration, directed by Adrianna Yanuziello. In 2018, again at the invitation of Alysson Bruno, Fábio Leandro created compositions and arrangements for the show *Arquivo Negro* by the dance company Cia Pé No Mundo. For two consecutive years (2020 and 2021), he participated in the Guiomar Novaes Piano Competition, winning second place in the popular piano category at both the 43rd and 44th editions. In 2023, he taught popular piano at the 21st edition of the Ourinhos Festival (São Paulo). Also in 2023, working as an arranger, he participated in the *Encontros Históricos* (Historic Encounters) series by the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica Orchestra, collaborating with Xênia França and Gaby Amarantos. This was a concert series organized by the orchestra featuring artists from the contemporary Brazilian music scene. In 2024, under the direction of Juliana Notari, he participated in the show *Diálogo* (music and puppetry) alongside musicians Felipe Veiga and Heri Brandino—who also contributed to the show's musical composition—in a work inspired by Naná Vasconcelos. In this performance, the pianist employs the prepared piano technique, incorporating percussion instruments into the piano. That same year, at the invitation of Mozambican musician and producer Otis Selimane, he contributed to the album *Do Nilo* by singer Lilian Rocha, performing on every track and arranging the song "Lua Nova," which features singer Jota Pê. In 2025, he released his debut album of original compositions, *Los Abrazos*, in partnership with Argentine singer Carla Vera, who also wrote all the Spanish lyrics. Recorded in Buenos Aires in 2023, the album features eight original songs by the duo and two reinterpretations: "Alma Mía" (María Grever) and "Dos Cruces" (Carmelo Larrea). The music was composed remotely between 2020 and 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2026, he began a series of solo piano concerts: Villa Jazz Festival – Porto Alegre, RS Instrumental Sesc Brasil – São Paulo Piano na Praça (CCSP) – São Paulo Pianístico de Joinville – Joinville, SC
